Context
GSK sought to unify study delivery operations across multiple therapeutic areas, improve delivery speed, and strengthen compliance and patient safety in a highly regulated environment. 

 

Approach

  • Unified global operating model for 560+ studies, integrating governance, resource management, and quality oversight.
  • Established enterprise portfolio governance to drive prioritization, resource-to-demand decisions, and proactive risk management.
  • Built and led a 70+ person global Center of Excellence across four countries, embedding continuous improvement, performance management and engagement. 
  • Directed full-service provider strategy and transition governance, ensuring seamless vendor collaboration and measurable performance outcomes.

Impact

Delivery speed increased by ~25%, quality and compliance strengthened, and the organization gained a repeatable model for sustainable growth. The high-performing COE became an agile engine for continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and performance management - enabled by a streamlined full-service provider model.

Regulatory Transformation - Global R&D Change and Digital Enablement

Context
GSK embarked on a multi-year global Regulatory transformation aimed at improving process efficiency, driving a new operating model and generating savings. 

Approach

  • Served as executive change lead, driving end-to-end change across systems (Veeva Vault), processes, governance, and capability.

  • Designed and executed an enterprise change and adoption strategy for a highly matrixed R&D organization, integrating readiness, leadership mobilization, and communication frameworks.

  • Expanded remit beyond Regulatory to accelerate digital transformation and cross functional adoption of the Veeva Vault Suite.

Cyber Security Governance & Culture - Enterprise Risk & Capability Transformation

"Dena designed and delivered a complete culture change programme at GSK. She changed the way people think about cyber security and their behaviours. She took advice from academics in the fields of psychology, sociology and criminology and undertook rigorous scientific experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of different types of intervention, before rolling out interventions to the 150K employees and contractors at GSK.  I am sure that I will work with Dena in the future and I would welcome the opportunity." 

Context

GSK needed to strengthen its global cybersecurity posture and embed risk ownership across 140,000 employees in 130 countries. The challenge was cultural as much as technical- shifting behaviors and accountability at scale.

Approach

  • Architected GSK’s first enterprise Information Protection culture strategy, transforming cybersecurity behaviors globally.

  • Led a multi-year transformation embedding risk ownership, elevating workforce capability, and strengthening governance across functions.

  • Established enterprise risk governance and targeted intervention models, including phishing simulation and behavioral analytics to reduce repeat-risk behaviors.

  • Served as trusted advisor to senior executives and the Board, securing cross-functional sponsorship from HR, Legal, and business leaders.

Impact

Materially strengthened GSK’s cybersecurity posture and created a sustainable culture of accountability. The program remains active today and has been showcased to peer organizations worldwide.
